Frozen Jr. Audition Info

Welcome to Frozen Jr.! Below you will find the Character Descriptions and Full Synopsis along a with link to the Soundtrack.

Character Descriptions:
ANNA* – The young Princess of Arendelle. Filled with a tremendous amount of light, energy, and love, Anna is a hopelessly optimistic extrovert at all ages, but as she grows older, she longs for connection with others, especially her sister, Elsa. This warm and determined princess requires a strong singer with great comic timing.
Vocal range top: D5
Vocal range bottom: G3
*The script calls for a YOUNG ANNA and a MIDDLE ANNA in addition to ANNA. These parts may be split up or combined at the Director’s discretion.
ELSA* – Next in line for the throne, Elsa has been born with magical powers that can overwhelm her when she becomes afraid and harm others if not handled with care. Fearful of hurting anyone, especially her beloved sister, Anna, Elsa becomes anxious and withdrawn as she grows older, before eventually learning to take control of, and become confident in, her powers which she masterfully uses to manipulate the Snow Chorus. Should be a strong singer who can portray Elsa’s restrained nature.

Vocal range top: D5
Vocal range bottom: F#3
*The script calls for a YOUNG ELSA and a MIDDLE ELSA in addition to ELSA. These parts may be split up or combined at the Director’s discretion.

KRISTOFF – Kristoff is a hardworking ice harvester. He has a sarcastic veneer and a rough-around-the-edges exterior that hides a big heart. Taken in by the Hidden Folk when he was young, he loves Pabbie and Bulda dearly, but is a bit of a loner with a reindeer for a best friend- until he meets Anna. Must be able to balance a cynical sense of humor with charming banter.
Vocal range top: A3
Vocal range bottom: G2

HANS – The ambitious Prince of the Southern Isles and overlooked thirteenth son of a king. Hans constantly strives to find a way to make good and stand out. He boasts an exceedingly charming façade that fools everyone – including Anna – into believing he’s Prince Charming, when really, he’s just a jerk. Must be able to play both sides of this two-faced prince with relish as well as confidently sing the moments of harmony in “Love Is an Open Door.”
Vocal range top: B3
Vocal range bottom: G2

OLAF – The magical snowman created by Anna and Elsa when they were young. Olaf is endearingly delighted by everything – especially the idea of summer. Goofy and sweet, Olaf should possess a childlike innocence and excellent comic timing.
Vocal range top: D4
Vocal range bottom: F#2

SVEN – Sven is a reindeer of few words, fiercely loyal pal to Kristoff, and loves giving the ice harvester a hard time. Must have good comic timing and terrific physical acting skills who can devise a strong movement vocabulary to bring this furry charmer to life.
Vocal range top: A4
Vocal range bottom: A3

PABBIE – The adoptive father of Kristoff and the mystical leader of the Hidden Folk who has a soft spot for “strays.” Ever-benevolent, these parental figures want what’s best for Kristoff, even if they are a bit misguided in their efforts. Featured in the crowd- pleaser, “Fixer Upper.”

BULDA – The adoptive mother of Kristoff and the mystical leader of the Hidden Folk who has a soft spot for “strays.” Ever-benevolent, these parental figures want what’s best for Kristoff, even if they are a bit misguided in their efforts. Featured in the crowd- pleaser, “Fixer Upper.”

KING AGNARR – Anna and Elsa’s father. The warm-hearted ruler of Arendelle is committed to protecting both his family and the Townspeople from his eldest daughter’s powers.

QUEEN IDUNA – Anna and Elsa’s mother. The queen possesses a sense of rightness and kindness that guides her in her protection of her two young girls. A daughter of the Northern Nomads, she has the ability to communicate with the Hidden Folk of the mountains and so understands Elsa’s powers deeply.

OAKEN – An exceedingly cheerful and convivial wandering salesperson and ardent devotee to all things cozy and comfortable. Oaken’s “Hygge” is a showstopper, so this actor must be able to portray the peppy peddler’s infectious warmth with flair and good humor.

WESELTON – A visiting noble who possesses a huge inferiority complex. A bombastic, overbearing sycophant, Weselton’s sole purpose is to hobnob with influencers and royalty. Must be able to portray the narrow-minded naysayer with over-the-top gusto.

BISHOP – The bishop officiates the coronation and passing of the crown to Elsa. This spiritual supervisor must communicate to the Townspeople of Arendelle in a serious and formal manner.

ENSEMBLE – The ensemble is made up of  Townspeople, the Snow Chorus, the Hidden Folk, Castle Staff, the Housekeeper, the Butler, a Handmaiden, the Cook, the Steward, Guards, the Summer Chorus, and Oaken’s Family.

SYNOPSIS

The Townspeople of Arendelle and the royal family — Queen Iduna, King Agnarr, Young Elsa, and Young Anna — celebrate summer (“Let the Sun Shine On”). As the princesses play, Young Anna goads Young Elsa into using her magical powers to create ice and snow, but Queen Iduna reminds them that magic must stay secret.

Later that evening, the sisters create a magical toy snowman named Olaf (“A Little Bit of You”). As their games grow more adventurous, the Snow Chrous joins in and Young Elsa accidentally strikes Young Anna with her powers. The King and Queen rush to help, and Queen Iduna calls on the Hidden Folk to revive Young Anna (“First Joik”). Pabbie and Bulda, the mystical leaders of the Hidden Folk, remove the ice from Young Anna’s head as well as all memories of Young Elsa’s magic.

Young Elsa grows fearful of her powers and isolates herself from her sister until she can learn to control them; the gates to the castle are closed. With no memory of the magic strike, Young Anna wonders why her sister will no longer play with her (“Do You Want to Build a Snowman?”).

Years later, Middle Elsa still struggles to control her powers as her fear grows, while Middle Anna still yearns for her sister’s affection. The King and Queen leave the kingdom to search for answers but are lost at sea.

On the day of Elsa’s coronation as queen, the Castle Staff reopen the gates. Anna daydreams about how exciting it will be to have life back in the castle, while Elsa practices controlling her powers for the coronation (“For the First Time in Forever”). As guests arrive, Anna bumps into the charming Prince Hans, and both of them slam into Kristoff, a local ice harvester, and his reindeer, Sven, knocking Kristoff’s bag of ice to the ground.

The Bishop crowns Elsa as she contemplates the relationship she wishes she could have with Anna (“Dangerous to Dream”). At the coronation ball, the two sisters finally talk and laugh together, particularly at the expense of the arrogant Duke of Weselton. Later, Anna finds Hans, and the two immediately fall in love (“Love Is an Open Door”) and decide to marry. The elated couple asks Elsa for her blessing of their marriage, but she refuses. As tensions rise, Elsa accidentally shoots ice into the ballroom. Elsa flees, and Anna runs out to find her.

On the snowy mountainside, Kristoff sings a song to Sven (“Reindeer(s) Are Better Than People”) when a freezing Anna comes upon them. They agree to help her find Elsa, and are startled when Olaf, a magical snowman, appears. Olaf vows to help them bring back summer, and along with the Summer Chorus, fantasizes about what it will be like (“In Summer”). The group also comes across Oaken and Oaken’s Family, who teach them about hygge and provide them with winter gear (“Hygge”).

Isolated in an ice palace of her own making, Elsa lets go of her fear and embraces her powers (“Let It Go”). Meanwhile, Hans and Weselton send out a search party to find Anna and capture Elsa.

Anna, Kristoff, Sven, and Olaf finally find Elsa. Elsa’s newfound liberation doesn’t last long, however, once Anna reveals that her powers have set off an eternal winter everywhere. In her panic, Elsa accidentally strikes Anna again (“For the First Time in Forever – Reprise”). When Elsa blasts the group down the mountain (“Mountain Fall”), they seek a cure for Anna from the Hidden Folk (“Kristoff’s Joik”), who think she and Kristoff are a couple (“Fixer Upper”). When Anna faints, however, Pabbie and Bulda inform them that only an act of true love can thaw her frozen heart, so they return to Arendelle to find Hans.

Meanwhile, Elsa is captured and brought back to the castle. When Anna arrives, Hans reveals that he never loved her and was just using her to become King of Arendelle. He leaves Anna to freeze to death, but Olaf helps her escape to find Kristoff.

Hans tells the kingdom that Anna has died and sentences Elsa to death, who, in her fear, creates a massive blizzard (“Colder by the Minute”). As Anna is about to reunite with Kristoff, she sees that Hans has drawn his sword over Elsa. Anna sacrifices herself, stopping Kristoff’s sword as she turns to ice.

This act of true love between sisters thaws Anna, and Elsa realizes that love can thaw the effects of her powers (“Finale – Part 1”). Anna sends Hans away, and the kingdom celebrates while all vow to fill the world with light and love (“Finale – Part 2”).

Beetlejuice The dead guy of the hour! This titular character is zany, spooky, and absolutely hilarious. Though Beetlejuice exists in a morally gray area, he’s more of a trickster than a malevolent threat. He’s happy to align his interests with others, but ultimately, he’s looking out for himself.

Synopsis

It’s our show now, kid. The ghost-with-the-most comes to the stage in Beetlejuice JR., the frightfully funny musical based on the beloved motion picture turned Broadway phenomenon. Lydia Deetz is a strange and unusual teenager, still grieving the loss of her mother and obsessed with the whole “being dead thing.” Lucky for Lydia, she and her father move to a new house haunted by a recently deceased couple and Beetlejuice, a delightful demon with a real zest for life. When Lydia calls on Beetlejuice to scare away anyone with a pulse, this double-crossing specter shows his true stripes, unleashing a (Nether)world of pandemonium.

With music and lyrics by Tony Award-nominee Eddie Perfect and a book by Tony Award-nominated pair Anthony King and Scott Brown, Beetlejuice was nominated for eight 2019 Tony Awards including Best New Musical. A viral “sucks-yes” on social media, this musical struck a chord with young theatre lovers who adored its unabashed humor and emotional honesty.

Created for the generation that made it a hit, Beetlejuice JR. is a wacky theatrical party for all!

Rock of Ages Teen Edition Audition Info

Tickets on sale for TMP-M's 'Rock of Ages: Teen Edition'

That’s right, my babies! Welcome to Rock of Ages! Below are the Character Descriptions and Show Summary for Rock of Ages: Teen Edition along with links to the Original Cast Album. Yeeeoooowwww!!!

Character Descriptions:

LONNY BARNETT – the dual role of omnipotent narrator and being the secondary male lead character within the story, with a storyline that includes a bro-mance with Dennis. He is a charming and funny guy who gets along with everyone. Should be an unflappable, magnetic performer with a strong tenor voice who can sing, act and has a great sense of humor.

JUSTICE CHARLIER – the owner of the Venus-A-Go-Go Dance Club. She’s a smart woman who looks out for her girls. Should be a strong young lady with a warm, nurturing nature and a rockin’ singing voice.

DENNIS DUPREE – the owner of The Bourbon Room. He’s a bit older than the others and a little burnt out on the party scene. Should have a big presence, strong acting skills and a good voice. Dennis must pair flawlessly with Lonny as the other half of their bro-mance.

DREW BOLEY – “just a city boy, born and raised in south Detroit” who moved to L.A. to rock. Unfortunately, every rocker has to do his time, so Drew barbacks just to make rent. While the music and setting of the show is pre-1980s, Drew is a classic musical theatre archetype – the nice guy with big dreams. Should be an experienced performer with a solid tenor voice who can convey both a sweet, charming quality and fit the bill as a rocker.

SHERRIE CHRISTIAN – the female romantic lead and, like Drew, is a musical theatre archetype – a sweet, small-town girl moves to the city to pursue a brighter future.  She hopes to get her break in the acting business despite her parents’ obvious disapproval. This is a perfect role for a performer with a strong voice and solid acting skills. She should also pair well with Drew.

SHERRIE’S FATHER – the classic disapproving dad. Should be an actor who can play stern and imposing and someone who is comfortable singing a few solos.

SHERRIE’S MOTHER – more nurturing and sympathetic. Should be someone with maturity, warmth and a nice singing voice.

JOEY PRIMO – a secondary character with several great stage moments. Cast an actor who is fearlessly willing to make a total fool of themselves and then sit back and enjoy their performance.

ANITA BATH – the Mayor’s assistant who refuses to compromise on what she thinks is right. She leads a protest to save The Bourbon Room and, in the process, falls in love with Franz. Should be an actor with a strong voice and who can convey a real sense of protest and conviction.

MAYOR – chooses the money over the music and is more than willing to sell himself and his city out to the highest bidder. This role can be played by a guy or a girl.

HILDA KLINEMAN – a German real estate developer who has her eyes on turning the Sunset Strip into a strip mall. With her son Franz by her side, Hilda won’t take no for an answer. Should be an actor with a strong speaking and singing voice who can make bold acting choices and has a great sense of comedic timing.

FRANZ KLINEMAN – the son of the overbearing Hilda who dreams of running a confectionary shop back in Hamburg, Germany. Should be an actor with a sweet demeanor, a good singing voice and solid acting skills.

STACEE JAXX – the comedic villain of the show. A bona fide rock star who doesn’t quite realize through his selfish and wild antics that he’s reached the peak of his career. Should be a charismatic performer with an excellent voice who can command the stage and make a self-absorbed rock star both villainous and hilarious.

WAITRESS #1, #2 and #3 – work at The Bourbon Room and exemplify the era of 1980s rock with style and flair. Should be three young women who sing and act well as a unit.

PROTESTOR #1, #2 and #3 – a group of die-hard rockers helping Anita save the Sunset Strip. These ensemble parts are the bedrock of the show. They must capture the need and desire to keep rock alive and kicking! Should be dynamic speakers.

CONSTANCE SACK – an inquisitive reporter who interviews Stacee Jaxx just as he’s about to part ways with his band. Should be a performer who can infuse this curious reporter with energy and poise.

JA’KEITH GILL – becomes Drew’s agent and in the process, destroys Drew’s rock star dreams by forcing Drew to join a boy band. This is a nice featured role that can be played by a male or female and requires reasonable acting and singing skills.

THE LADIES OF THE VENUS-A-GO-GO CLUB – should be cast as an ensemble who can carve out their own individual personalities within a fun, unified company. Should have nice singing voices and solid movement skills.

SLEAZY RECORD PRODUCER and a SLEAZIER RECORD PRODUCER – These roles require a bit of singing but are mainly a sight gag and can be played by anyone.

PRODUCER (Orion Pictures) – sees Sherrie as the next Molly Ringwald and offers her his card (which is a picture of his beach house in Malibu). This is a non-singing role.

ROCKER – a featured role who hangs at The Bourbon Room with Joey Primo.

RIOT POLICE, WOMAN IN A SEQUIN GOWN, GIRL and BARTENDER – cameo roles, some with few speaking lines, and all feed into the vivid world of the Sunset Strip of the 1980s. Woman in a Sequin Gown is a sight gag to punctuate Dennis’s impromptu Academy Award acceptance speech—no singing or speaking is required. The Riot Police break up the protestors physically at the top of Act 2.

SUMMARY

It’s the tail end of the big, bad 1980s in Hollywood, and the party has been raging hard. Aqua Net, Lycra and Heavy Metal flow freely at one of the Sunset Strip’s last legendary venues, a place where legendary rocker Stacee Jaxx takes the stage and groupies line up for their chance at an autograph. Amidst the madness, aspiring rock star (and resident toilet cleaner) Drew longs to take the stage as the next big thing (and longs for small-town girl Sherri, fresh off the bus from Kansas with stars in her eyes). But the rock ‘n’ roll fairy tale is about to end when German developers sweep into town with plans to turn the fabled Strip into just another capitalist strip mall. Can Drew, Sherri and the gang save the strip – and themselves – before it’s too late? Only the music of hit bands Styx, Journey, Bon Jovi, Whitesnake and more can hold the answer.

Rock of Ages: Teen Edition takes you back to the times of big bands with big egos playing big guitar solos and sporting even bigger hair! This Tony Award-nominated Broadway musical features the hits of bands including Night Ranger, REO Speedwagon, Pat Benatar, Twisted Sister and others.

You wanna rock?

Adapted from the three-time-Tony-nominated Broadway hit comes A Year with Frog and Toad KIDS. Based on Arnold Lobel’s well-loved books, the jazzy, upbeat score bubbles with melody. Part vaudeville, part make-believe, and all charm, A Year with Frog and Toad KIDS tells the story of a friendship that endures throughout the seasons.

This whimsical show follows two great friends – the cheerful, popular Frog, and the rather grumpy Toad – through four fun-filled seasons. Waking from hibernation, Frog and Toad plant gardens, swim, rake leaves, go sledding and learn life lessons along the way. Throughout the year, two best friends celebrate and rejoice in the differences that make them unique and special.
