Holiday In The Hills is Sutter Street Theatre’s love letter to the Holiday Season; It takes place in the late 1800’s (give or take a year or two) right here on Sutter Street where the residents of the town and surrounding areas have gotten together for a party to celebrate the season. A lot of research went into the people and places that preceded us in the late 1800’s, and everyone you see onstage was an actual resident or visitor to Folsom at that time of year. The Carsino Show has returned – in the style of the Johnny Carson show as if it were done by the Mafia! Live music plus tributes to Liberace, Carol Burnett, Frank Sinatra, Rodney Dangerfield, Dean Martin,  Abbot & Costello, and more with your host, Johnny Carsino.

Performances will be held outdoors under the stars on the patio of The Gaslight Co. at 718 Sutter Street with socially-distanced nightclub cabaret seating. Masks are required and temperatures will be taken upon arrival. A full bar will be available.

There will be three performances:

Friday March 26th & Saturday March 27th at 8:00pm

Sunday, March 28th at 4:00pm

Sutter Street Theatre has undertaken big changes to adjust to our world’s changing needs.  Take a look at what we’re doing!

• Our new OptiClean Negative Air Machine and Air Scrubber with HEPA filter removes particles as small as 0.3 microns and puts clean air into the room.
• We’ve reduced audience capacity to 25%.
• Workshops and classes have been reduced to a handful of people or moved outside entirely.
• There is now a second bathroom in our Annex to allow for easier social distancing.
• Holiday in the Hills is getting a COVID-19 makeover! Learn more here.

Dear Friends,

Thank you for all your support over the past 14 years and for being a part of the Sutter Street Theatre family. We are looking forward to the next 20 years!

We are in the process of adjusting the schedule to accommodate postponed performances, classes, and rehearsals.

If you have purchased any tickets for any shows, you may take advantage of the following options:

1) Postpone your tickets to a later performance of these shows.

2) Receive credit for a comparably priced ticket that will be good for any show.

3) Donate the price of your ticket to Sutter Street Theatre to help us during this difficult time.  We will give you a donation letter for tax purposes upon request.

But, he is growing—he has outgrown his own little bed. And he is about to become a big brother! Papa Bear builds him a new, bigger bed as they talk about the coming birth of the new baby in the family. When Sister Bear arrives, Small Bear becomes Brother Bear and he finds, to his delight, that he won’t be lonely anymore. The Berenstain Bears and the Messy Room: All families have a messy room or two in the house. In the Berenstain Bears’ tree house, the cubs’ room is the messiest. Mama Bear decides it’s time for a major cleanup; comic conflict results, which is solved by Papa Bear’s neatness plan. The Berenstain Bears and the Double Dare: It’s hard to resist someone daring you to prove you’re not a chicken! Neighborhood bullies, Too Tall and his gang, put Brother on the spot by daring him to swipe one of Farmer Ben’s watermelons. Farmer Ben catches Brother in the act and gives him good advice about dealing with bad influences. The Berenstain Bears Tell the Truth: An impromptu game of soccer inside the Bears’ tree house results in one very broken lamp. Brother and Sister concoct a far-fetched story about a bird flying in the window and knocking the lamp over. Somehow, Papa and Mama Bear doubt this explanation. As the truth comes out, Brother and Sister learn that “no matter how you try, you can’t make truth out of a lie.” The Berenstain Bears Get Stage Fright: Sister Bear is selected to be the star of the Bear Country School production of Grizzlystiltskin. She is very nervous about her role and has trouble memorizing her lines. She practices and practices to get them right. Brother has no such problem—he is supremely confident. But on the night of the performance, Brother gets stage fright and forgets his lines while well-prepared Sister not only has her own part down pat but feeds Brother his lines as well.

Evil Dead The Musical takes all the elements of the cult classic films, The Evil Dead, Evil Dead 2, and Army of Darkness and combines them for one of the craziest, funniest, and bloodiest theatrical experiences of all time.  Five college students go to an abandoned cabin in the woods, and accidentally unleash an evil force that turns them all into demons. It’s all up to Ash (a housewares employee, turned demon-killing hero), and his trusty chainsaw to save the day. Blood flies. Limbs are dismembered. Demons tell bad jokes… and all to music.  You don’t need to be a fan of Evil Dead to love this show. You don’t need to be a fan of horror to love this show. You don’t even need to be a fan of musicals to love this show. Grandpa Vanderhof and his wacky family, the Sycamores, have been happily living their zany lives in his house by Columbia University in New York for many years. This family (and their friends) are a madcap group of eccentrics, marching to the beat of their own drum, with pride and joy. Their hobbies include collecting snakes, building fireworks in the basement, playing darts, writing a myriad of plays that never get published with a typewriter that was delivered to the wrong address years ago, taking ballet lessons from a Russian dance teacher and much more. Things like stress, jobs and paying taxes to the government are for other people, not for them! You Can’t Take It With You is a madcap, idealistic comedy that reinforces the idea that you can only live life to the fullest by doing whatever makes you happy.
