A lineup full of heart, laughter, and local talent awaits

As Sutter Street Theatre turns 20, we’re celebrating two decades of storytelling, community, and creativity with one of our most expansive seasons yet. The 2026 lineup honors everything audiences love about Sutter Street Theatre, from intimate performances, unexpected discoveries, and the joy of year round live entertainment in the heart of Historic Folsom.

The milestone season features returning favorites, new adventures, and a full slate of Family Series shows, Off-Broadway productions, and Youth Workshops. From classic comedies to full blown musicals, there’s something for everyone who believes in the magic of theatre.

Off-Broadway Series

The 20th Season begins with I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change, a witty and hilarious musical about modern relationships that has charmed audiences worldwide. Later in the season, thrill seekers will enjoy Murder on the Orient Express, Agatha Christie’s timeless mystery brought to life onstage, followed by the clever chaos of the backstage farce Noises Off..

Other highlights include A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, Escanaba in da Moonlight, A Chorus Line, Arsenic and Old Lace, and the cult classic Evil Dead: The Musical. Evil Dead is a certified fan favorite returning for its 16th year. (Get your tickets fast! Every performance is a sell out!) 

The season wraps with Sutter Street’s beloved tradition, Holiday in the Hills, bringing the warmth and charm of old-town Folsom to the stage for the holidays.

Family Series

The Family Series continues to offer young audiences their first taste of live theatre while giving families a reason to laugh, cheer, and imagine together. Upcoming titles include Alice in Wonderland, Dorothy Meets Alice or The Wizard of Wonderland, Cinderella, The Legend of Sleepy Hollow, and A Winnie-the-Pooh Christmas Tail. These shows feature colorful characters, family friendly story telling, and the chance to meet the cast after every performance for autographs and pictures. 

Teen Workshop Performances

Theatre is a place to grow, and Sutter Street’s Youth Workshop program continues to inspire the next generation of performers and storytellers. This year’s lineup includes Hadestown Teen Edition, Grease School Edition, The Aristocats Kids, and a TBA Teen Workshop Production to be announced soon. These workshops give students hands-on experience in all aspects of theatre production while performing to sold out audiences on our stage.

A Look Ahead

As the theatre celebrates its 20th anniversary, audiences can expect surprises, special events, and a few nostalgic nods to the past. For Artistic Director Connie Mockenhaupt and Managing Director Mike Jimena, this season is more than a milestone, it’s a love letter to the artists, volunteers, and patrons who’ve kept Sutter Street Theatre thriving for two decades.
